Bishwanath Ghosh has over three decades of experience and has been associated with organizations like Maruti Suzuki and Reliance in the past. Ghosh has been working with the Mahindra group for more than ten years now and is presently designated as CIO – Enterprise and Corporate Functions and chairman of IT Academy. He is a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT, Kharagpur. Some of the state-of the art technology contributions of his were in the areas of Manufacturing Execution systems, Centralized Dealer Management solution, Leveraging Internet for business, unique mobile applications etc. His present focus is towards leveraging Mobility, Analytics, IoT, AI, ML, Blockchain, RPA to help create Digital Business processes and Models for the Enterprise.
M&M launched its first digital employee named IRONA in the Mahindra landscape by implementing robotic process automation (RPA) technology. IRONA is working for Corporate Treasury – managing Investment into Mutual Funds by successfully carrying out all end to end transactions as per schedule. It has built in checks for working days, ranking of MF schemes, investments, and redemption logics. With RPA, Mahindra & Mahindra successfully eliminated repetitive, mundane manual work resulting in savings of almost three hours every day. In addition, process discipline has also improved with higher data accuracy and predictability. As part of this project, a reporting layer has also been added to help decision making. As the dull manual work reduced, the concerned person has been upskilled and they now work on high end functions with improved job satisfaction. IRONA is also compiling key indicator for equity stock prices and forex rates for key currencies. The success of digital worker is replicated into other operational areas like HR, operations and reporting, extending similar benefits to over 25 processes.
