IFFCO-TOKIO has developed a web geographic information systems (GIS) that enables monitoring of crop health at the location of the crop cutting experiments (CCE). This GIS System works in conjunction with in house built mobile apps for CCE as well as crop condition monitoring. It incorporates both satellite-based crop health analysis through GIS and the CCE data shared by the mobile app on the ground. This geoportal also enables to assess crop losses and risk zone at the village /field level. The Crop health information is captured through the CCE and crop condition monitoring app, which captures on-the- ground photographs and crop health data. The records of these CCE along with the GIS data are stored for future reference, while contesting claims with the respective state governments. This leads to significant savings in crop loss claims for the insurance company as well as granting claims to the right beneficiaries of crop insurance.
